Gerard to give Local Community Fresh Brief on Federal Budget

MP To give Local Community Fresh Brief on Federal Budget

Toronto – Gerard Kennedy, M.P. for Parkdale-High Park is hosting a next day “Budget Breakfast” to allow area residents to review and give feedback on the 2010 Federal Budget which will be presented to Parliament on Thursday March 4th in Ottawa.

“The economy remains fragile,” said Mr. Kennedy. ” This budget should tell whether the government is really achieving much-needed job creation and stability for our families and communities and has learned from its mistakes, or if it will continue with mainly an expensive public relations exercise.”

“Everyone should take an interest in this budget. Whenever the government is borrowing from our kids, there has to be good value for them as well as for us,” said Mr. Kennedy, indicating the filter he will apply to upcoming budget measures.

In addition to reviewing the details of the budget, Gerard will discuss how it will impact families, organizations and businesses in Parkdale-High Park as well as across Canada.

The Budget Breakfast will be held on Friday, March 5th from 7:15am to 9:00am at Loyola Arrupe Centre for Seniors, 1709 Bloor Street West (at Keele/Parkside Drive). Interested residents are asked to call or email kenneg1@parl.gc.ca. A light breakfast will be served and there will be a nominal charge to cover costs.
