Students at St. Vincent De Paul took to the polls today to voice their opinion on the upcoming Federal elections. After the ballots were cast and votes tallied, Gerard Kennedy beat out Peggy Nash as best candidate for Parkdale-High Park by a 46% to 28% difference.
“It’s exciting to see students as young as grade 7 and 8 getting involved in the political process,” said local candidate Gerard Kennedy. “Their future will be shaped by decisions we make today.”
Students from 4000 schools representing 305 federal electoral districts are taking on the roles of Returning Officers, Scrutineers and Poll Clerks and coordinating their schools’ vote (www.studentvote.ca).
